Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) issues guidelines for vaccinations of children in India and this is updated from time to time.
Every child should receive these vaccines mentioned under “Recommended for all” by IAP. Besides that parents should be informed about other vaccines which are mentioned by IAP under “For High Risk” and if any parent plans to have them, they should be administered. If any child actually falls under this “High Risk” group, then this particular child should receive these additional shots too. CLICK here to View list of HIGH RISK GROUP
Vaccination Video of a 3-4 yrs old child at Dr Baweja’s Clinic – Note that children remain calm and comfortable at time of vaccinations if they have been prepared well in advance by parents with good communication and are well distracted at time of vaccination and are secured in their parents laps. Its the fear of vaccine which makes a child uncooperative and actual vaccine administration is never a painful procedure as perceived by many parents also.
