Indian Academy of Pediatrics issued important updates for Vaccinations in Nov-December 2023, as per their published document in Link above.
Following are 2 major changes;
- HPV or the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine , Commonly known as Cervical Cancer Vaccine is now recommended fro BOYS ALSO. The schedule is same for Boys and Girls. ie 2 doses if started during age 9-14 yr or 3 doses if started at age 15 plus. Read more about HPV vaccines at this LINK
- A booster dose of Td or DT vaccine is to be given at age 16-18 years. ie 5 yrs after the last dose of DPT/TdaP vaccine which is usually given at age 10. Click this link to read more on DPT vaccines
